The different vehicle
Is this your first time riding the 107 tram? Are you maybe hearing this sound for the first time, then?
Listen closer, it’s humming. You’re now listening with your ears and with your belly, while you fill it with air at the same rhythm. Concentrate on what you hear and on your breathing—is it in unison with the sound and movements of the tram? What is it? Lift your gaze above the book and look straight ahead. Then lift the book and hold it up in front of your eyes. An image has been superimposed on the tram, its seats and doors. It pulsates softly at the edges, and then the far section of the tram car begins to move upwards and towards you at the same time. Approximately halfway between you and where the section of tram car had previously been, it moves back down. A row of seats stops just in front of you. Moments ago, it was a few metres away from you. You now see a six-person family sitting there. The same process now takes place in reverse order. Between them and you, you recognize no other seats. Everything is wrinkled and fluffy green at the same time. Yes—allow yourself the thought. If it’s slowly dawning on you that you’re sitting inside of a caterpillar, you’re correct. And you’re also right to wonder. But what just happened was your first experience of interdimensional travel. Congratulations!
Is Ernestinenstraße the next stop?
- Yes? Then blink hard once, exit, and continue reading on page 13.
- No, not yet? Then remember my guiding words: look right, look left, look around the vehicle and take a closer look, experience the other dimensions. Practice blinking a little while longer and then exit at Ernestinenstraße and continue reading on page 13.
